Why Memorize Psalm 119:11

The memory verse for the letter “I” is Psalm 119:11. Psalm 119: 9 & 11 says,

How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to Your word. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Children’s Lesson

Psalm 119:11 is a perfect reminder as to why we are memorizing Bible verses.

We are hiding God’s Word in our hearts (and our children’s hearts) by memorizing his Word so that we can pull it out when we need it and keep our ways aligned with God. The earlier we guide our children down this path, the better.

If you have the ABC Workbook, then you’ll already be spending time in the Word each week with your child. While your child is working through the worksheets, ask him/her what the verse means to them.

Song of Psalm 119:11

As always it is easier to remember when we can put the verse to a song. Steve Green has a fun and catchy video on YouTube to help us remember Psalm 119:11. This is one my children learned four years ago and still remember the Bible verse, thanks to this catchy tune!

TIP

Take a video of your kids as they sing the verses. Trust me, years later you’ll love watching your young child sing these verses.
