Psalm 136:1 is next in the ABC series for Bible memory for kids. Each part in the series includes a free printable, a YouTube video, and ideas on how to teach the verse to your child.

“G” Verse Psalm 136:1

Psalm 136:1 states:

Give thanks to The Lord for he is good. His love endures forever.

Song about the bible verse

If your kids listen to Christian music regularly, this will be an easy verse to memorize. A lot of the words for Christian music is taken directly from scripture and this one is no exception.

I love it when I’m reading the Bible and I almost sing the verse and realize I have a verse or sometimes a section memorized and I didn’t even realize it!

The G Verse is word-for-word from the beginning of the popular song “Forever” by Chris Tomlin. The verse we want to memorize is repeated throughout this song.

It could be nice to incorporate some praise music into your memorization time this week especially if you and your children already are familiar with this verse. You can just let the music play in the background.

Here’s a printable for the bible verse – download it by clicking on the image below. Don’t forget to memorize where the verse is in the Bible – that is usually the hardest part!

Teaching the Verse to Kids

The second part of our memory verse “His love endures forever” is repeated 26 times in Psalm 136. You can read Psalm 136 to your children and have them respond at the appropriate times with “His love endures forever”.
